Barcode generator

Type a number or text, pick the barcode type, and download it for labels, stock or products.

About this tool

This free barcode generator makes printable barcodes for products, stock, shelves and shipping labels. Create a Code 128 barcode from any text, or EAN-13 and UPC barcodes for retail product numbers.

How to make a barcode

  1. Type your code. Any text for Code 128, or the product number for EAN-13 and UPC.
  2. Pick the type. Use Code 128 for your own labels. Retail products need an EAN or UPC number issued by GS1.
  3. Download and print. PNG works in Word and label software; SVG stays sharp at any size.

Questions people ask

Which barcode type should I use?

Code 128 for stock, shelves and shipping labels. EAN-13 (or UPC-A in the US) for products sold in shops.

Can I make my own EAN or UPC numbers?

You can make the barcode, but to sell in most shops the number itself must be registered with GS1.

Why does my EAN-13 change the last digit?

The last digit is a check digit worked out from the others. Enter 12 digits and we add it for you.
