Household budget planner

Add your income and spending, weekly or monthly. We show what's left each month and where your money goes. It's saved in this browser.

About this tool

This free household budget planner works like a monthly budget spreadsheet: list income and outgoings for rent, bills, food, transport and savings, plan your food shop, and download it to Excel or Google Sheets.

How to make a household budget

  1. Add your income. Your take-home pay after tax, plus any other money coming in.
  2. Add your spending. Rent or mortgage, bills, food, transport and anything else, as weekly, monthly or yearly amounts.
  3. Plan your food shop. List what you buy and how often; the monthly cost goes into your budget.
  4. Check what's left. See your monthly surplus, where your money goes, and how you compare with the 50/30/20 rule.
